Stitch Fix is an online retailer that provides personal styling as a service. Much of our competitive advantage over traditional retailers can be attributed to the strong focus we have on using data science in every corner of the business. To that end, we empower our data scientists with complete autonomy and end-to-end ownership of projects. This includes modeling the problem at hand, engineering a solution that works, and tracking the outcome to guide business decisions. In this talk, we will briefly discuss a case study of how we use optimization techniques to match individual clients to their personal stylist and how a full-stack approach to data science makes the process of algorithm and product development more efficient.
